Team India New Head Coach: The race to replace Rahul Dravid as India's head coach has taken an interesting turn, with former Australian opener and coach Justin Langer also expressing his interest for the post of Team India coach.

Langer's reaction on opening of BCCI applications

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday issued an advertisement seeking applications for the role of head coach. However, BCCI has also kept the door open for Rahul Dravid. Meanwhile, when Langer was asked about taking up this post, he told Times of India, “Okay, I am keen. I never thought about it, but coaching the Indian team would be an extraordinary role.”

Jay Shah hints at appointment of foreign coach

Jay Shah has also hinted at the possibility of appointing a foreign coach, the last time the head coach of the Indian team was a foreigner in 2014. Since then, India have relied on homegrown legends like Anil Kumble, Ravi Shastri, and Rahul Dravid. Langer's candidature could be a game-changer if the BCCI chooses to explore the overseas route.

Justin Langer's career has been amazing

Justin Langer has had an illustrious playing career and has scored more than 7,600 runs in 105 Test matches. His coaching experience is equally impressive, having coached the Australian team for almost four years. Since the sandpaper gate in 2018, Langer has led the Australian team to win the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Justin Langer's current role as the head coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL offers a glimpse of his coaching style. However, the condition of the team is not that good, due to which questions have been raised on their approach. At present, Lucknow Super Giants are at seventh position in IPL with 6 wins and 6 losses in 12 matches.
